Posted on 26 February 2026
Project Overview
Client: Collège Boréal – Distillery Campus, Toronto, Ontario
Dealer Partner: Hollend Furnishings Ltd.
End User Lead: Terry Comeau, OAA, MRAIC, LEED BD+C
Solution: 3 × KTeam Pods
Primary Use: Quiet collaboration, small-group study, focused work
Installation Time: 1 day (no construction required)
The Challenge: Space Without the Struggle
The Toronto campus is located within a new five-story heritage building that features wood, brick, and steel. Because of this unique character, traditional construction posed significant hurdles. The choice of furniture and materials needed to align with the building’s aesthetic, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful design in creating inspiring spaces. The team faced the dilemma of how to provide private, high-functioning group study areas without disrupting this creative and functional environment.
Since the campus occupies a historical building, traditional construction posed significant hurdles
Bureaucratic Delays: New enclosed rooms would have required lengthy permit processes and approvals.
Operational Disruption: Construction and demolition would have interrupted daily campus life.
Acoustic Needs: The goal was to find a solution for 2–4 students that offered professional-grade acoustic control.
The Solution
In collaboration with Hollend Furnishings Ltd., Kubebooth integrated three KTeam pods into the campus layout. These pods were specifically selected to create "micro-environments" that balance privacy with a welcoming, modern aesthetic.
Key Advantages Included:
Optimized Layouts: Built-in seating and configurations designed specifically for group dynamics.
Acoustic Isolation: Significant reduction in noise and distractions for both those inside and outside the pods.
Instant Implementation: The entire project was installed in just one day, requiring zero construction or demolition.
Results: The Most Popular Spot on Campus
The impact of the KTeam pods was immediate. Students filled the pods as soon as the installation was complete, praising the comfort and the ability to focus.
"From a planning and operations standpoint, it was a smart decision for the college. We’re very satisfied with the quality, installation, and overall service experience."
— Terry Comeau, Executive Director, Toronto Campus Development

Project Impact at a Glance:
High Demand: The pods achieved continuous, high usage and quickly became the campus's premier study spot.
Zero Downtime: Campus operations remained fully functional throughout the 24-hour installation window.
Enhanced Learning: Provided a dedicated setting for deep focus and collaborative learning.
